MUSEUMS OF SANTARCANGELO DI ROMAGNA
Pallone and Tamburello
Museum
It is
worth visiting the curious Museum of the Pallone and Tamburello Games, which
opened in 1993 in a rampart of the Malatesta walls. The Museum exhibits
numerous playing tools of great value, as a sixteenth-century wooden guard
and two well-preserved leather tamburelli dating back to the
eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The Museum offers also a collection of
play-bills, regulations, and texts on the Pallone game from the sixteenth
century onwards, which witness the conversion of this ancient sport into the
Tamburello game, still played in the close eighteenth-century Sphaeristerium.
