Onferno Nature Reserve Museum
It is
worth visiting the Onferno Nature Reserve Museum. The small Museum is housed
in the beautiful parsonage of the previous parish church of St Columba,
which stands in the centre of the Nature Reserve of Onferno. The Museum,
destined mostly for educational activities, intends to extol the natural and
historical peculiarities of the surrounding territory through the exhibition
of explanatory panels and minerals, zoological and archaeological finds. It
is possible to admire numerous and interesting species of the local fauna –
as the very peculiar bats, small marvels of evolution – a noteworthy
ornithological collection recently restored, and a diorama depicting the
life of the reserve. In the church connected with the parsonage –
destroyed during World War II and
entirely restored in the
post-war period – in the present day
is located a large multivalent hall.
