MUSEUMS OF CATTOLICA
Regina Museum
It is worth visiting the Regina Museum
(Cattolica), housed in the
ancient Pilgrim’s Hospital. This noteworthy Museum is arranged on two floors.
On the first floor there is the Archaeological Section, divided into eight
subsections: 1) The Prehistory, 2) The Archaeological Excavations, 3) The
Roman Age: The Road, 4) The Mansio, 5) The Domus, 6) The Everyday Life, 7)
The Middle Ages and The Modern Age, 8) The Donations and The Acquisitions.
Very interesting are the subsections concerning the mansio and the
domus. In the subsection describing the mansio are exhibited,
among numerous and significant archaeological finds, the noteworthy finds
which were thrown in ancient times in the well of the mansio. In the
subsection concerning the domus are instead exhibited the numerous
archaeological finds brought to light in Cattolica. On the second floor is
located the interesting Marine Section, divided into six subsections which
illustrate the ancient sailorly customs of Cattolica: 1) The Adriatic
Marine, 2) The Dockyards, 3) The Fishing-boats, 4) Men and Sea, 5) The
Motorization, 6) The Fishing.
